Ethereal Collection Lapel Pin - Ode to the Nightingale and the Rose
Commissioned by a private collector, this one-of-a-kind brooch is inspired by Oscar Wilde’s short story The Nightingale and the Rose.
Mindy Lam brings to life the tale’s most poignant moment—the Nightingale’s selfless sacrifice for true love. In search of a red rose, the Nightingale finds a rose tree willing to help, but at a great cost. To bring forth a bloom, she must sing all night with her heart pressed against a thorn, giving her life for love’s sake. As dawn breaks, a perfect red rose emerges.
The Nightingale is adorned with jewels, her chest is adorn with a ruby droplet—a symbol of devotion and sacrifice. She rests against a vintage blood-red rose and gold thorns. The pair is set above a breathtaking 79ct aquamarine stone, framed by rings of rhinestones, pearls, and gold vines. A vintage filigree butterfly, a pumpkin lizard, a vintage wildflower, crystal leaves, natural green garnet, and peridot stones complete the scene. All finished with 14kt gold-filled wires.
